HRT

Can dose of oestrogen or progesterone affect bleeding pattern? I have a 53 year old on E2 only patch plus utrogestan 100mgs nightly, for 2 years, and now having monthly bleed. Is it reasonable to increase utrogestan to 2 tablets every night and try this for 3 months or would you carry out PV in the first instance? Recent smear normal.

women who have bleeding on HRT, if you refer them for a scan, you will be advised to tell the patient to stop HRT for 6 weeks first and or refer to gynae but most women do not want to stop HRT. What would you advise ?

Thankyou, Lynda
