Description

Not sure what to expect from your first clinical year CCAs?! We are running 4 nights of mock CCAs over February and March where each evening there are 3 stations (a variety of time slots available!). If you attend all 4 nights you will do 12 different stations roughly following the split of station types for the Y3 University of Manchester CCAs except for 4 examination stations (doing those online would pose a bit of a challenge but we are running a day of in person mocks too where they can be practiced as well plus some in person exam teaching in both Manchester and Preston!). The stations will be run by Y4 and Y5 medical students acting as examiners providing structured feedback!

Dates: 6/2, 20/2, 27/2, 20/3

Times: Each evening has 4 time slots (6-6.30, 6.30-7, 7.30-8, 8-8.30)

The Code Blue OSCE Crew (CBOC) serves as an online, peer-led platform dedicated to clinical OSCE skills teaching for medical students, with the added support of medical professionals. CBOC is a recognized program under the IFMSA's Activities program, specifically affiliated with SCOME's 'Teaching Medical Skills' initiative. Whilst we generally follow the University of Manchester's curriculum and exam timetable, we have no affiliation to the university.

We are proudly supported by Geeky Medics, who generously support our mission and endeavours.

Learning objectives

  1. By the end of the teaching session, participants will be able to understand the format and expectation of clinical year CCAs to enable them to prepare effectively for their exams.
  2. Participants will be able to practice different station types that are in line with the University of Manchester's curriculum to enhance their understanding and improve their performance.
  3. Participants will gain the ability to perform under realistic exam conditions, as simulated by the mock sessions, helping to build resilience and confidence.
  4. By getting structured feedback from senior medical students, participants will identify their areas of strength and areas needing improvement in clinical skills.
  5. Participants will develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of the role-play and examination aspects of medical training, which may encourage further self-led study and practice.
