Description

Join us for our SBAR and ENT OSCE skills teaching and practice session on the 27th November! We will be talking you through high-yield content for your OSCEs, focussing on: SBAR handovers and history taking for common ENT conditions!

This will be followed by 1h of small group OSCE practice in breakout rooms with a facilitator.

Our session content will have input from doctors working with us, and some of them might even pop into the breakout rooms to give feedback directly!

Summary

The Code Blue OSCE Crew (CBOC) serves as an online, peer-led platform dedicated to clinical OSCE skills teaching for medical students, with the added support of medical professionals. CBOC is a recognized program under the IFMSA's Activities program, specifically affiliated with SCOME's 'Teaching Medical Skills' initiative. Our Y4 Mind & Movement sessions are conducted every few weeks via Zoom. Please note that timings may be subject to change. Each session comprises 1h of comprehensive teaching, followed by 1h of dedicated hands-on practice within smaller breakout rooms. These sessions are open to all medical students who are currently progressing through their clinical years. We are proudly supported by Geeky Medics, who generously support our mission and endeavors. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries (Instagram @codeblueteaching | Email cbosceteaching@gmail.com)

Learning objectives

1. Understand and utilize the SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) protocol for clear, consistent, and efficient communication during patient handovers. 2. Develop capabilities to effectively take history of common ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) conditions, including understanding of the protocols and methodologies. 3. Use newly-acquired SBAR and ENT history taking skills in simulated OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) scenarios to demonstrate clinical competency. 4. Receive and incorporate feedback from the facilitators/ doctors regarding their performance during the OSCE practice to enhance their clinical practices. 5. Develop abilities to work cohesively in a small group setting, and effectively communicate patient data and information to other healthcare professionals.
