Description

Join us for our session on the 19th February 2025! We will be talking you through high-yield content for your OSCEs, focussing on: history taking for joint pain, joint fluid analyses and X-rays. This will be followed by 1h of small group OSCE practice in breakout rooms with a facilitator.

Our session content will have input from doctors working with us, and some of them might even pop into the breakout rooms to give feedback directly!

Summary

The Code Blue OSCE Crew (CBOC) serves as an online, peer-led platform dedicated to clinical OSCE skills teaching for medical students, with the added support of medical professionals. CBOC is a recognized program under the IFMSA's Activities program, specifically affiliated with SCOME's 'Teaching Medical Skills' initiative.

Our Y4 Mind & Movement sessions are conducted every few weeks via Zoom. Please note that timings may be subject to change.

Each session comprises 1h of comprehensive teaching, followed by 1h of dedicated hands-on practice within smaller breakout rooms. These sessions are open to all medical students who are currently progressing through their clinical years.

We are proudly supported by Geeky Medics, who generously support our mission and endeavors.

Learning objectives

  1. To acquire comprehensive and precise methods for history taking for patients experiencing joint pain, with an emphasis on key questions and follow-ups to ensure all potential causes are considered.
  2. To gain a clear understanding of the interpretation and clinical relevance of joint fluid analyses, able to explain the process and its significance in diagnosing various MSK (musculoskeletal) conditions.
  3. To enhance skills on reading and interpreting X-rays of the musculoskeletal system, understanding key anatomical structures, and common MSK conditions that can be diagnosed using X-ray imaging.
  4. To improve practical OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) skills, particularly in the areas of patient history-taking, joint fluid analysis, and interpreting X-rays, through interactive small group practice sessions.
  5. To receive, implement and benefit from the feedback on performance provided by experienced clinical facilitators and active clinicians, thereby enhancing one's clinical problem-solving and communication abilities.
