Meet Dr. Alex Thompson - who went from working as a NHS doctor in Edinburgh to working a world (and ~11,000 miles) away in New Zealand!
About this event
Ever wondered what it's like working outside of the UK (and the NHS)?
Considering leaping into a FY3 year in New Zealand and want more info?
Join Dr. Alex Thompson as he talks through training in Edinburgh and making the move to Auckland in 2019, a year not quite like any other. Learn from his experiences, find out how he made the move - and how you can do it too!
Dr Thompson's bio:
I grew up in Warwickshire before completing my preclinical studies at Girton College, Cambridge, where I intercalated in Biological Anthropology in my final year. I moved to Imperial College London for 3 years to finish my medical school training. I then went to Edinburgh for my foundation training, before deciding to move to New Zealand in 2019. I worked as a medical registrar in Auckland for a year and have spent the rest of my time here providing medical cover for the isolation hotels set up as part of New Zealand's COVID response.
