BBASS explores all the elements that contribute to wound infection and what you as a surgeon can do to minimise infection. It requires attention to detail at every level – preoperative, operative, and postoperative factors will be identified. Surgical site infection is preventable. BBASS offers an audit mechanism and ask the practicing surgeon to consider that anything less than a perfect wound costs time and money notwithstanding patient misery. This teaching session will provide medical professionals with an in-depth review of the signs, symptoms, and treatments for wound infections. The session will cover key topics such as preventing contamination, investigating microbiology, recognizing and managing cellulitis, and debridement. Attending this session will help medical professionals better diagnose, treat, and manage wound infections in their patient population.
