Description

Welcome to the fifth installment of our Widening Participation in Plastics webinar series!

Ever thought about what life is like as a plastic surgeon? Thinking about a career in plastic surgery but want to know more?

This webinar series brought to you in association with PRASSA aims to give you an insight into the world of plastic surgery. Each webinar will explore a different sub-speciality of plastics from orthoplastics to trauma to burns, delivered by registrars and consultants across the country. We hope to show you what a day in the life of a plastic surgeon entails, discuss some interesting case stories and inspire you to join the world of plastics! We encourage you to ask questions in our Q&A at the end.

Session 5: Orthoplastics with Mr Naveen Cavale

Mr Naveen Cavale[@realplastics] is a fully qualified and accredited Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon working as an NHS Consultant at King’s College Hospital and Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals in London, as well as founding the REAL clinic[@realclinicuk] in 2010, his own private practice in Battersea.

Having qualified as a doctor from University College London medical school in 1995, he then went on to obtain his MRCSEd in 2000 and undertook specialist training in London, becoming a Consultant in 2009. Though his initial work started as a micro-surgeon undertaking breast reconstruction, he then moved onto complex trauma reconstruction at the major trauma centre at King’s alongside the orthopaedics team, as well as with other surgical specialties.

Aside from his clinical responsibilities, Mr. Cavale also upholds multiple senior positions in the field of Plastics including representing UK for the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery[ISAPS], the president of the Royal Society of Medicine’s plastic surgery section, trustee of the British Foundation of Reconstructive Surgery and Training, and is a council member of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He is also known for his collaboration with IDEALS, a medical charity which provides essential treatment around the world, and makes regular trips to Gaza to treat victims affected by gunshots and blast injuries.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!
