Session Title: Vascular Surgery - Painful Upper Limb & Access For RRT

We are excited to announce the second event of our surgical teaching series by Mr Ravindhran on common vascular presentations, namely the causes of upper limb pain and the process patients undergo for establishment of vascular access for renal replacement therapy (RRT).

  1. Describe the basic arterial and venous anatomy of the upper limb.
  2. List and explain common causes of upper limb pain.
  3. Outline the diagnostic approach and management principles for acute limb ischemia and chronic limb-threatening ischemia in the upper limb.
  4. Identify key differential diagnoses for upper limb vascular presentations.
  5. Describe the basic principles of vascular access creation for renal replacement therapy, including site selection and vessel preparation.
  6. Summarize the basic principles of creating and assessing arteriovenous fistulas and grafts.
