By the end of the session, learners should be able to accurately diagnose common upper gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), gastritis, and peptic ulcer disease through a solid understanding of their symptoms, risk factors, and typical presentations. 2. Learners should be able to formulate and discuss a comprehensive treatment plan for upper GI conditions that includes utilizing appropriate pharmacological therapy and lifestyle changes based on the latest clinical guidelines and research studies. 3. Learners will become proficient in recognizing and managing complications related to upper GI disorders, including gastrointestinal bleeding, esophageal stricture, and gastric cancer, to ensure the reduction of mortality and morbidity. 4. Participants should be able to correctly interpret results from diagnostic tools such as endoscopy, lab tests, and imaging studies to help confirm or rule out various upper GI conditions, understanding their role, indications, and limitations. 5. Learners will demonstrate efficient patient communication skills related to upper GI disorders, including explaining the disease process, treatment options, potential risks, and prevention measures and addressing patient concerns and questions in a clear, empathetic, and educated manner.
