Description

ESSS is proud to introduce the Undergraduate Surgical Teaching Series.

This series will cover surgical topics at the level expected of clinical year students. The content will be relevant to the Edinburgh Medical School curriculum and extremely useful for exams.

Sessions will run throughout the year. Each session will consist of a presentation followed by case discussions in small groups.

Our first session is entitled ‘Postoperative Care and Complications'. The session will be delivered by Dr Alessandro Srgò, a Clinical Development Fellow in Colorectal Surgery in Edinburgh.

The learning outcomes for this session are as follows:

  1. To describe the most common postoperative problems.
  2. To identify first-line investigations.
  3. To outline treatment and management options.
  4. To apply the above to clinical scenarios.
