Summary

To ensure that qualified doctors are current and competent in the diagnosis, classification, and management of ankle fractures, aligning their practice with the latest evidence-based guidelines. This is intended to enable them to deliver high-quality, consistent, and effective care to patients presenting with ankle fractures.

Learning objectives

Learning objectives for the teaching session on ankle fractures, focused on enhancing the competency of the attendees: Assess and Classify Ankle Fractures: By the end of this session, participants will be able to competently assess and classify ankle fractures using clinical examination findings and radiographic studies in accordance with current guidelines. Formulate Evidence-Based Management Plans: Participants will be able to formulate and implement evidence-based management plans for patients with various types of ankle fractures, taking into account patient-specific factors and current best practices. Identify and Mitigate Complications: Attendees will be able to proactively identify potential complications associated with ankle fractures and take appropriate steps to prevent or mitigate these complications in their clinical practice. Communicate Effectively with Patients and Healthcare Team: Participants will be able to clearly and empathetically communicate the diagnosis, management plan, potential complications, and prognosis with patients and their families, as well as effectively coordinate with other healthcare professionals involved in the patient’s care. Engage in Continuous Improvement of Practice: By the end of this session, attendees will be equipped to critically appraise their own practice in the management of ankle fractures, identify areas for improvement, and actively engage in continuing education to enhance their clinical skills.
