Summary

This MRCS Virtual EGS Weekend features four days of interactive presentations, workshops, and lectures focused on improving knowledge and understanding of common surgical presentations. Medical students and foundation trainees are invited to gain insight into surgical pathology, how to present research, success strategies for F1 rotations, and recognition of unwell surgical patients. Don't miss this opportunity for an engaging and entertaining learning experience.

Day 1: Career talks Upper GI, Colorectal, Endocrine, Transplant, Breast and Vascular

Update on General Surgery ST3 applications

Day 2: Surgical Anatomy, Unwell Surgical patient, fluid resuscitation, hernias and small bowel obstruction, large bowel obstruction, gallstone disease, pancreatitis, appendicitis. How to write an abstract How to succeed in surgical rotations How to present your research/audit/case report Keynote Trauma speaker

Learning objectives

  1. Identify signs of an unwell surgical patient.
  2. Differentiate between hernias and small bowel obstructions.
  3. Understand the principles of large bowel obstruction and colorectal tumours.
  4. Understand principles of gallstone disease and pancreatitis.
  5. Understand principles of fluid resuscitation.
