Many aspects of surgery involve joining tubes. BBASS takes the principles of needle control and alignment and applies them to joining things together. Each stage requires adherence to angles and attention to needle control. We will explore models that will enable you to practice and ‘home’ your skills.

Summary
Many aspects of surgery involve joining tubes. BBASS takes the principles of needle control and alignment and applies them to joining things together. Each stage requires adherence to angles and attention to needle control. We will explore models that will enable you to practice and ‘home’ your skills. Orientation and knowing where and how to start is important. These principles apply to almost every anastomosis you are going to do. BBASS takes this back to basics.
Learning objectives
-
Understand the spatial thinking of anastomosing bowel and vessels.
- Understand how to orientate and organise the stitching.
- Know how to align the needle in any position.
- Understand how to invert or evert the joining edges.
