Description

17 November 2021 at 5 pm GMT / 12 pm EST / 9 am PST.

Zoom password will be sent to those registered shortly before the event!

We are partnering with the Association of Women Surgeons Edinburgh and Women in Thoracic Surgery to bring you an exciting webinar about the gender gap in Cardiothoracic Surgery (CTS)!

The gender gap in CTS is a widespread and deeply concerning one:

In the UK, 64% of people accepted into medicine and dentistry degree courses are women; yet, only 13.2% of CTS consultants are women. Likewise, an American study conducted last year found that only 20% of CTS residents (trainees) are women, and only 7% of practicing Cardiothoracic surgeons are women!

The event will feature talks by prominent thoracic surgeons practicing in the United States. Dr. Ceppa is Associate Professor of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine, and Dr. David is Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery at the USC Keck School of Medicine (full bios will be posted on Facebook event page below). This will be followed by a Q&A session where you will be able to ask them your questions!
