Description

The Acutely Ill Patient is a teaching series which will cover 10 medical and surgical sub-specialties in 10 sessions, focusing on severe conditions.

This course is primarily aimed at T, P and F years, but all are welcome.

This session is will focus on acute abdominal conditions, allowing students to explore General Surgery, brought to you by St George’s Surgical Society.

Location: Lecture Theatre A, Hunter Wing, Ground floor

Certificates will be awarded upon attendance of 7/10 sessions

Summary

Welcome to “The Acutely Ill Patient” teaching series! This is a fantastic opportunity to explore a wide range of specialties whilst getting practice and personalised feedback on your history taking and examinations. Whilst you are encouraged to attend every session, you are welcome to pick and choose which sessions you would like to attend based on the specialty explored. This series will cover 10 medical and surgical sub-specialties in 10 sessions, with a focus on emergencies. The sessions focuses on constant feedback and runs as follows; - some formal teaching on the topic and specialty of the session - focussed history practice and examination of the case with feedback - final practical with an emergency simulation patient - some sessions will include MCQ practice (attendees’ choice) This course is primarily aimed at T, P and F years, but all are welcome. Who will be leading the session? Dr Binnie comes to us from Birmingham, where she completed her medical school training. She completed her F1 and F2 in Southend University Hospital, after which she moved to Imperial College London as an Orthopaedic Junior Clinical Fellow. She is currently completing her core surgical training here at St George’s University Hospital, and plans on pursuing Trauma & Orthopaedics Surgery.
