Hi all, GUOS will be welcoming in the new year with a free “Sustainability and Climate change within Eyecare” talk delivered by Dr Andrew Pyott, a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Remote & Rural Ophthalmology.
Dr Pyott is currently the Clinical Service Lead for Ophthalmology in NHS Highlands as well as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. He completed his ophthalmology training in Glasgow and has since made an impact locally and internationally, having worked in South East Asia, Ghana and the Middle East.
In 2018, Dr Pyott received a Points of Light award from the British Prime Minister for his efforts and hard work volunteering to train local medics across some of the most deprived communities in Indonesia. He has also previously served as president of the Scottish Ophthalmological Club and was a council member for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists until 2021.
We are very excited to have Dr Pyott speak to us. This promises to be a very interesting and informative talk so please do come along!! As always, students from all universities as well as doctors and other health care workers are welcome and encouraged to join us and certificates of attendance will be provided after the talk has finished.
