Join us for our YFTSS Surgical Emergency Series and learn how to pragmatically and calmly assess and manage surgical pathologies related to LUQ/epigastrium and haematuria. Leave feeling enlightened and equipped with the tools needed to for you to approach surgical emergencies with confidence and ease.

Summary

This teaching session provides medical professionals with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills needed to assess and manage LUQ/epigastrium and haematuria. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the essential steps in effectively diagnosing and responding to surgical pathologies in the acute abdomen, enabling them to manage related emergencies confidently and competently.

This session will involve two 30 minute sessions:

  1. LUQ/epigastrium
  2. Haematuria

Learning objectives

  1. Understand how to recognize and assess common LUQ/epigastrium pathologies seen in the emergency setting.
  2. Identify risk factors and indicative signs of common acquired and congenital conditions associated with LUQ/epigastrium.
  3. Grasp the therapeutic implications of each differential diagnosis.
  4. Learn how to triage patients with LUQ/epigastrium pathology for urgent or elective surgery.
  5. Acquire the ability to differentiate between haematuria etiologies and explain the symptoms and management strategies for each condition.
