Description

Join us for the first session of the Surgery for Finals National Teaching Series! This session will cover key MLA topics related to General Surgery. At the end, there will be a chance to work through high-yield MLA style SBAs.

Topics to be covered:

  • Appendicitis
  • Acute pancreatitis
  • Hernias

Learning objectives

  1. To form appropriate differential diagnosis of common general surgical conditions
  2. To diagnose appendicitis using clinical signs and symptoms and imaging findings
  3. To be aware of the causes and clinical signs and symptoms of acute pancreatitis and the complications related to it
  4. To classify and diagnose different types of hernias, recognize signs of complications such as strangulation or incarceration and determine the appropriate management pathway, including surgical options
  5. To apply understanding of key surgical principles and decision-making processes effectively to solve general surgery UKMLA-style SBAs.
