Description

This teaching series will cover the role of nutritional interventions in sports-related goals, including muscle hypertrophy, sports performance, healthy weight loss, preventing muscle atrophy, preventing & treating injuries to the brain and bones, and avoiding relative energy deficiency syndrome (RED-S).

Tutorial 4/6

This online session will address nutritional strategies for mitigating injury/disuse-associated muscle loss. This will include an overview of the mechanisms of muscle loss, how injury and recovery alter energy requirements, and how nutrition needs to be meticulously altered to account for these changes. The role of protein and other nutritions for mitigating this muscle loss will also be covered, inlcuding a critical analysis of a scientific study.
