Description

The Southern Trauma And Orthopaedic Conference is an innovative new event exploring Orthopaedic Trauma and Limb Reconstruction. This conference has been established through a collaboration between the British Orthopaedic Medical Student Association (BOMSA) South East Committee, including the University of Southampton, Brighton and Sussex Medical School, Kent and Medway Medical School, and Buckingham University.

Event Details: 8:30-17:00, 22/03/2025. Heartbeat Education Centre, Southampton General Hospital, Tremona Road Southampton. SO16 6YD

Talks: The Conference will feature talks focused on fracture healing, limb reconstruction, limb salvage, career pathways into Trauma and Orthopaedics, and more.

Workshops: Participants will have the opportunity to rotate through four hands-on workshops: Dynamic Hip Screws (DHS), Plating and Lag Screws, Intramedullary (IM) Nailing, and External Fixation (Ex-Fix). These workshops will be led by experienced consultants and registrars providing valuable practical insights.

Medical Student Presentations: The conference will also include a research presentation segment, where successfully shortlisted medical students will showcase their research or projects related to musculoskeletal health, including trauma and orthopaedic surgery.
