Attend this exciting session with Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, entrepreneur and lead for the the Royal College of Surgeons Future of Surgery Innovation Hub, Mr Kerstein. He will discuss malignant and benign skin conditions including histological classification and staging of skin cancers, imaging modalities and diagnostic procedures available and the surgical management of skin cancers.

Summary

PRASSA UK would like to welcome you to the fourth talk of the PRASSA UK Webinar Teaching Programme. For this, we are humbled to be joined by Mr Ryan Kerstein as he shares his knowledge on all things skin! Mr Kerstein is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and is the Skin Cancer Lead. In addition to this he is the Trust’s Associate Medical Director for Research and Innovation, the Lead for the Royal College of Surgeons Future of Surgery Innovation Hub (I-Hub) and an entrepreneur. Mr Kerstein has previously worked for in management consultancy for Boston Consulting Group. Here he worked on big data, change management and Health Tech projects within the UK and internationally. Using his own personal experiences in the med-tech industry he recommends the following advice when looking at solving problems or issues encountered during clinical practice ‘#ABCD - Always Be Connected Dots’.

Develop an understanding of the following: - Anatomy of the skin -Malignant and benign skin conditions -Histological classification and staging of skin cancers -Imaging modalities and diagnostic procedures available. -Surgical management of skin cancers -Classification of local, regional and free flaps following tumour excision. -Advantages and disadvantages of local, regional and free flaps in skin surgery.
