We can use mattress sutures in wounds under tension and in places where the skin has a tendency to invert such as the palms of the hands. These sutures are useful for distributing tension across the wound, however there is a risk of cross-hatching (train track like scarring on the skin) which gives a poor cosmetic result for the patient.
Session outline:
- Brief presentation about the sutures, their uses, and equipment needed
- Live demonstration
- Practise and feedback
