Description

We can use mattress sutures in wounds under tension and in places where the skin has a tendency to invert such as the palms of the hands. These sutures are useful for distributing tension across the wound, however there is a risk of cross-hatching (train track like scarring on the skin) which gives a poor cosmetic result for the patient.

Session outline:

  • Brief presentation about the sutures, their uses, and equipment needed
  • Live demonstration
  • Practise and feedback

This event is £4 in-person (Teviot, Dining room) to cover the cost of equipment, or free online (zoom) for members. You can buy membership at the door or on our EUSA page! https://edin.eusa.ed.ac.uk/activities/view/esss
