1) To understand the structure, functions, and operational protocols of a Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU). 2) To become proficient in managing and responding to common critical situations encountered in a RICU, including acute respiratory distress syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbations, and respiratory failures. 3) To gain hands-on experience with simulation models to adjust ventilator settings for different patient scenarios and evaluate their responses effectively. 4) To enhance teamwork and communication skills within an interprofessional team in a high-stress, high-stakes environment such as the RICU. 5) To develop a comprehensive understanding of the ethical considerations, protocols, and decision-making processes around end-of-life care in a RICU setting.
