Aim
The aim of this course is to update participants on practical skills and knowledge in preparation for a return to general practice.
Objectives
At the end of this session, delegates should be able to:
Demonstrate confidence in common restorative procedures including preparing cavities, endodontic access and indirect restorations
Confidently place and remove sutures for minor oral surgery procedures
Perform screening for periodontal disease and understand disease management and treatment options
Identify appropriate prescribing protocols
Show knowledge of the GDC standards and current GDS regulations
Have an awareness of the current guidance & practicalities of infection prevention and control and decontamination in GDP
Deal appropriately with a complaint
Develop a PDP and incorporative reflective practice
Learning Content
This course is intended to prepare participants to return to work in general dental practice following a break. Participants will be updated on current GDS regulations, record keeping, audit requirements, ICP measures and have hands-on practice at clinical techniques, including the use of Simodont dental trainers and suturing.
