SUNS are proud to present our first session in our research 101 series: basics of research! This session will discuss the different types of research, ranging from case studies to meta-analyses; it will cover the ethics and importance of research and go over how to write research papers. Research is a fundamental aspect of a career in the neurosciences, and this session is ideal for anyone interested in getting started in research or brushing up on their skills!
This session will be led by Dr Katrin Rabiei, a consultant neurosurgeon from the Art Clinic Hospitals in Sweden. Dr Rabiei has an exceptional research portfolio, with other 30 presentations at international conferences, over 20 peer-reviewed publications, as well as numerous awards, such as the EANS Aesculap Award for Best Clinical Paper. She is the chair of the research committee at EANS and is author and reviewer for several neurosurgical journals, including Acta Neurochirurgica and World Neurosurgery. Her research interests lie in arachnoid cysts and hydrocephalus, and she is currently a researcher at AgeCap, Centre for Ageing and Health, as well as EPINEP, a neuropsychiatric epidemiology research unit at the University of Gothenburg, where she recieved her MD and PhD. If her resume was not already impressive enough, she is the first female neurosurgeon from a refugee background in Sweden, and works part time at the Rosengrenska Network, helping provide access to healthcare for asylum seekers.
We are immensely grateful to Dr Rabiei for her help with our Research 101 series!
