Description

We are pleased to present our third teaching series this year: Reduced fetal movement. Reduced fetal movement is a common presentation in hospital during pregnancy and can be one of the first indications that the baby needs medical assistance, therefore, during pregnancy the mother is often advised to monitor the baby’s movements and to present to hospital if there is reduced fetal movements. As a medical student or foundation doctor it can be quite daunting when a patient presents with reduced fetal movement, therefore, during this session we will go through what questions to ask the mother, investigate and manage reduced fetal movement.

Learning objectives:

  1. History taking for reduced fetal movement
  2. Investigations
  3. Management including when is it an emergency
