Description

Description

We will be covering the following topics:

  • What your typical day will look like
  • Staying organised
  • The jobs you'll do the most

Summary

The Code Blue OSCE Crew (CBOC) serves as an online, peer-led platform dedicated to clinical OSCE skills teaching for medical students, with the added support of medical professionals. CBOC is a recognized program under the IFMSA's Activities program, specifically affiliated with SCOME's 'Teaching Medical Skills' initiative. We host weekly OSCE skills teaching via Zoom. We are proudly supported by Geeky Medics, who generously support our mission and endeavors. 'Ready, Steady, F1' is our highly-anticipated teaching series, hosted by a team of qualified junior doctors to help our final-year medical students prepare for the next stage in their careers. Students will learn a variety of skills and familiarise themselves with common scenarios they will encounter as a junior doctor. This teaching series is open to all medical students in their clinical years.

Learning objectives

1. By the end of the session, learners should be able to outline the structure of a typical day in a hospital setting, understanding the expectations and workflow of the day shift. 2. Learners should be able to identify key strategies for remaining organized during the day shift, including prioritizing tasks, effective time management, and maintaining clear communication. 3. Participants should be able to list and describe the most common tasks or jobs they will be responsible for during the day shift, and prepare for handling these tasks effectively. 4. By the end of this teaching session, participants should be able to understand the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and manage the stress that could arise due to the day shift duties. 5. Participants should be able to evaluate potential challenges or unexpected situations that may arise during the day shift and articulate appropriate response strategies.
