Quality assurance is an important measure of an organisation’s performance. The public and governments are more and more aware of the value of quality assurance. Institutions of higher learning who practice continuing quality improvement (CQI) with quality assurance exercises in its primary functions will strengthen the institutions, assist them to achieve their goals and mission besides enhancing students’ experience in the institutions. Quality evaluation and monitoring can be carried out internally and externally. Most institutions would experience external appraisal through their country’s accreditation system. In addition the South East Asia Association for Dental Education (SEAADE) has a Peer Review and Consultation Visitation programme that assist member institutions in providing independent external review and recognition of the institutions’ best practices. Such visitations are carried out in a non-threatening collegial spirit to assist the CQI processes of the institutions visited. The reports are published on the SEAADE website (https://seaade.net/peer-review-program/) with permission of the institutions visited.
