This session will cover multiple sections of the PSA exam relevant to Medicine and Surgery: prescribing, prescription review (including prescription legal requirements + controlled drugs) and planning management topics as outlined in Appendix BÂ of the PSA blueprint.
Some topics to be covered in Surgery include: medicines to stop prior to surgery, post operative analgesia, specific management of certain medical conditions for surgery, antibacterials and prophylaxis, when patients are NBM and more.
Some topics to be covered in medicine include: thromboprophylaxis, medication errors, prescribing in PE/DVT, bridging when initiating warfarin, prescribing in pulmonary oedema and more.
The session will largely be Q&A based with the involvement of polls and interactions in the chat.
