After 5–10 years of surgical practice, SAS and consultant surgeons enter the 'mid-phase' of their surgical careers.
The Royal College of Surgeons of England invites you to Progressing your surgical career: Mastering the mid-career phase, an online event on Wednesday 3 June 2025. Expert speakers will share valuable insights on how to confidently step into the next phase of your professional journey and take advantage of the many opportunities available.
Chaired by Ram Moorthy, RCS England Council member, this online full-day conference will include sessions on several key areas to support all surgeons during their careers:
- your career and wellbeing, including how to cope with changes and avoid issues like burnout;
- leadership and giving back to the profession: RCS England Council members and representatives will showcase opportunities outside of the theatre and discuss how to find and develop leadership opportunities at a local and national level;
- establishing a private practice and preparing for the next phase of your career.
RCS England will accredit this conference for CPD points (amount TBC). It is an online-only event.

This conference is for you if you want practical advice to advance your career. It will also give you opportunities to network with various inspirational people. Please note that this event is aimed at consultants and SAS Grades; it is not suitable for foundation or core surgical trainees.
