Join us for episode #1 of our Journal Club at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

Congenital Heart Disease affects approximately 1 in 100 of all live births. Owing to improved medical interventions, the number of young adults affected by Congenital Heart Disease is expected to increase by 5% every year, with more adults living with Congenital Heart Disease than children.

While many live well with Adult Congenital Heart Disease, the majority of cardiovascular complications occur in adulthood.

Cardiorespiratory fitness is reduced in people with Congenital Heart Disease, with deterioration faster when compared to healthy people. Cardiorespiratory fitness is known to be prognostic of future mortality and morbidity: it is, therefore, important to assess the evidence base on physical activity interventions in this population to inform decision making.

During this episode, we will be reviewing the article entitled: Physical Activity Interventions for Patients with Congenital Heart Disease. A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis.

This episode we will cover:

  • How the study was conducted?
  • How did the investigators measure their outcomes?
  • How do the main findings apply to your clinical practice (Is it new? Is it true? Does it change what you do?)?

To give you the very best value, we're opening up a LIVE Q&A session to finish.

This episode is perfect for Healthcare Scientists, Allied Health Professionals, Cardiologists, and Researchers interested in Congenital Heart Disease.
