Aims – to enable participants to further develop their skills in the diagnosis and management of periodontitis in general dental practice

Objectives: -diagnosis of periodontal disease using clinical and radiographic examination -use current classification of periodontal disease to formulate a diagnosis -understand the S3 evidence based treatment guidelines for periodontitis -recognise when onward referral is appropriate

Learning content: -This course will be provided via lectures and hands on practical sessions -It is intended to further participants’ understanding of the new classification system for periodontal disease -It will allow participants to broaden their knowledge of periodontal assessment and evidence based treatment -The appropriateness of onward referral for specialist treatment will be discussed
