Join this talk exploring the exciting surgical specialty of fetal surgery led by Dr Alireza Shamshirsaz, director of the Boston Children’s Maternal Fetal Care Center and professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School. Fetal surgery is a new exciting specialty that involves surgical treatment of various conditions whilst in the womb, such as spina bifida, twin-twin transfusion syndrome, and congenital heart defects. Boston Children's hospital is one of the top paediatric centres in the world and is one such centre that carries out fetal surgery.
Dr Shamshirsaz will explore the field of fetal surgery, his pathway to this specialty, as well as touching on certain aspects of the US medicine application pathway.
