Describe the causes of and issues that a child or young person may have with global or isolated developmental delay and/or dysmorphic features
Describe mental health issues relevant to a child or young person and be able to discuss initial management, the role of the multidisciplinary team and referral pathways into child mental health services for urgent & non urgent presentations.
Describe the causes of and issues that a child or young person may have with a learning disability
Take and record accurately an age and developmentally appropriate mental health history and mental state examination where relevant in a range of settings involving the child or young person as well as parents or carers
Describe the importance of family in a childs health, growth and development
Describe the importance of play, education and school in normal psychosocial development for babies, children and young people
Define differing types of child maltreatment and describe presenting symptoms, signs and red flags. Identify signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect and be able to safeguard children and young people. Describe the duty of care and procedure for raising concerns about child maltreatment
Prescribe safely, effectively and economically under supervision analgesics, antibiotics, asthma medications, oxygen, drugs to treat constipation, emergency drugs and drugs to treat ADHD
Outline normal physical and psychosocial development from birth to adulthood and the differences from adults, including the importance of opportunities for developing normal attachment
