Interested in Trauma and Orthopaedics? šŸ¦“EUTOS are pleased to announce a talk from Mr Nicholas Heinz, SORT-iT fellow and Orthopaedic Trainee. Nicholas will give an introduction into research in orthopaedics and how to get involved!

A bit about our speaker:

Born and raised in South Africa, after completing his schooling, Nicholas moved to the United Kingdom and completed his medical training with aĀ mastersĀ degree intercalation atĀ KeeleĀ University. HeĀ had expressed anĀ interest in ultrasound and hisĀ mastersĀ thesis was focused around the validity and reliability of ultrasound for measuring muscle and tendon parameters of the infraspinatus muscle.

He completed his foundation training in Stockport, Manchester, with a focus in Trauma and Orthopaedics in FY2Ā and developed hisĀ CV further in the specialty. In August 2018, Nicholas was accepted into the South East Scotland run-through Trauma and Orthopaedic programme during which time he further developed his interest in the academic side of the specialty.Ā Today he is employed as the SORT-iTĀ fellow and is completing his MD in the topic of posterior malleolus fractures of the ankle. Alongside this he is enrolled as an investigatorĀ formultiple commercial studiesĀ including theĀ ankle, hip and tibia fractures.

Nicholas will have 3 more years of Trauma and Orthopaedic Training to complete before embarking on fellowship. Thereafter he hopes toĀ secureĀ a consultantĀ postĀ in the U.K.
