1. To understand the pathophysiology of diabetic eye disease and its relationship to progressive vision loss. 2. To learn to identify and interpret the signs and symptoms associated with diabetic eye disease in a clinical setting. 3. To develop competence in performing comprehensive ophthalmologic examinations, with particular focus on the detection and evaluation of diabetic retinopathy and other diabetes-related vision problems. 4. To learn the current treatment methods (including drug therapies, laser procedures, and surgical options) for managing diabetic eye disease and preventing further vision loss. 5. To gain knowledge on the importance and methods of patient education and counseling in preventing and managing diabetes-related vision loss, including control of blood sugar levels, regular eye check-ups, and early detection of symptoms.
