Ophthalmological emergencies - SurgMentor UK teaching course.

Summary

Teaching session on common Ophthalmological emergencies, aimed at UK medical students wanting to learn more about Ophthalmology! There will also be a brief talk at the end on organising an Ophthalmology elective, and what you can expect from this experience.

Learning objectives

1. To understand the different types and causes of ophthalmological emergencies, including various diseases, injuries and conditions that can cause emergent eye issues. 2. To build solid knowledge in diagnosing common ophthalmological emergencies such as acute angle-closure glaucoma, central retinal artery occlusion, and keratitis, by identifying their distinctive signs and symptoms. 3. To acquire the skills necessary to conduct a thorough and accurate eye examination in emergency situations. 4. To learn and practice the proper management and treatment techniques for different ophthalmological emergencies. 5. To learn about organising an ophthalmology elective in medical school.
