Summary

Ectopic pregnancy, where a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, remains a significant health concern with potentially life-threatening complications if not detected early and managed promptly. While many advancements have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of ectopic pregnancies, gaps persist in optimal care, especially with evolving techniques and tools. This needs assessment is focused on addressing these gaps and ensuring that qualified doctors are updated on best practices.

Learning objectives

Diagnostic Precision: By the end of the session, participants will be able to proficiently utilize both clinical symptoms and advanced diagnostic tools to promptly identify suspected cases of ectopic pregnancies in diverse patient presentations. Therapeutic Decision-making: Attendees will demonstrate the capability to determine the most appropriate treatment modality for ectopic pregnancy (medical, surgical, or expectant management) based on individual patient profiles and presented scenarios. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participants will be competent in effectively collaborating with and seeking inputs from radiologists, surgeons, and emergency care providers to ensure a holistic and timely management of ectopic pregnancies. Post-Management Monitoring: By the end of the session, attendees will exhibit skillfulness in setting up and executing post-treatment follow-up plans, ensuring early detection of complications or recurrent ectopic occurrences. Patient Counseling Proficiency: Participants will be able to effectively guide patients through the implications of an ectopic pregnancy, providing empathetic and informed counseling about future fertility, emotional well-being, and potential risk factors.
