OBG society is excited to announce our annual revision series! This is catered towards 3A exams but anyone is welcome to attend. We will be covering all the high-yield topics of Obstetrics and Gynaecology which will be taught by doctors in the field along with exam-style questions to test your learning!

This session is taught by Dr Jamie McConnell, an ST5 OBG trainee in Sheffield. It will cover:

  • Physiological changes in pregnancy
  • Hypertensive disorders
  • GDM
  • Obstetric cholestasis
  • Anaemia
  • Rhesus incompatibility
  • Poly/oligohydramnios

Learning objectives

1. To understand and articulate the physiological changes that occur in the body during pregnancy, including hormonal, cardiovascular, and respiratory changes. 2. To become proficient in diagnosing, managing, and understanding the potential complications of hypertensive disorders in pregnancies, such as preeclampsia and eclampsia. 3. To gain a thorough knowledge of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), including risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis, management, and its implications for the mother and fetus. 4. To demonstrate a comprehension of Obstetric cholestasis, including its pathophysiology, clinical presentations, diagnosis, and management, as well as its effects on maternal and fetal health. 5. To develop a clear understanding of the various blood disorders during pregnancy, specifically anaemia and Rhesus incompatibility, their clinical significance, the modes of diagnosis, and their management during pregnancy.
