NSATS are delighted to announce Session 11: Upper GI Anatomy & Upper GI Surgery on Wednesday 11th January 2023, 6-8pm ππ
PART 1: PEER-ASSISTED TEACHING - Upper GI anatomy teaching led by senior medical students (intercalated in BSc Clinical Anatomy) π
PART 2: SURGICAL APPLICATION - Surgical teaching led by an expert surgeon taking you through the surgical anatomy of common procedures in Upper GI Surgery π
Introducing your Expert Surgeon for the evening: Mr Ewen Griffiths π
Mr Ewen Griffiths has been a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham since 2012. Mr Griffiths graduated from Dundee University in 2000. His research in βhypoxia associated factorsβ in oesophagogastric cancer at Paterson Institute of Cancer Research led to the award of MD (Doctorate in Medicine) degree from Manchester University in 2006. After obtaining his Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons in 2010, Mr Griffiths completed specialist surgical training (CCT) in 2012. Mr Griffiths also trained for a year as a Senior Upper Gastrointestinal Fellow in the Royal Adelaide Hospital, Australia.

π 2-stage Ivor-Lewis Oesophagectomy
π Gastrectomy (bariatric surgery)
