Description

Event summary:

NICON24 is the premiere event for HSC leaders and partners, bringing them together to discuss how to secure the best health and care outcomes for Northern Ireland.

We have an exciting and packed agenda at this year’s conference. Seeking to address the immense pressures in the system, we will use our time together to explore what we can do, working creatively and collaboratively to agree which nettles to grasp to best support progress.

Across the two days, we invite you to join over 600 leaders from all aspects of health and social care to consider the key issues impacting the system, including:

  • Health Minister Mike Nesbitt’s policy priorities and the draft Programme for Government (Key Initiatives article).
  • The planned Bengoa reboot and developing political consensus for progress.
  • Opportunities for renewing our culture, fostering greater openness, and investing in collective and collaborative system leadership.
  • Emerging plans to address health inequalities and prevent illness in new integrated care partnerships.
  • Opportunities for innovation and supporting the economy.
  • Maximising productivity and service design – including investing in our digital journey and, crucially, in our valued workforce.

NICON24 offers opportunities to hear from the latest from local leaders, consider international learning, and connect with colleagues from every sector to share learning and insights as we seek to drive transformation and maximise health outcomes for population.

Learning objectives

Five learning objectives for the medical audience for this conference: 1) Identify strategies for creating clinical and public consensus to progress service reconfiguration plans (with reference to the ‘reboot’ of Bengoa). 2) Recognise how to build different approaches to delivering better outcomes for the population practically and aspirationally. 3) Understand the significance and interconnectivity of various programmes, strategies, and approaches that can act as drivers of health and social care transformation (such as 'systems thinking' and 'collective leadership'). 4) Analyse the Health Minister’s vision and the NI Executive’s plans for future of NI’s integrated health and social care system at a time when the system is under immense pressure 5) Understand how to apply learning from other sources to the Northern Ireland context - and vice versa for our international audience! * An extra objective for the overachievers: Analyse how to nurture and empower so-called ‘positive deviants’ in your organisation to foster innovation and embrace the positive impact that it can have on the wider health and care landscape
