Ever wonder how you're going to manage to fit in time to take a thorough history and examination in your OSCEs?

Join our clinically focused teaching on headaches and head injuries to help prepare for finals where we discuss history-taking, physical examinations, investigations, and how to differentiate between different causes of headaches and head injuries with practice case scenarios.

This teaching is not only aimed at Manchester medical students, anyone is welcome to join.

Conditions we will cover:

- Primary headaches (e.g. tension headaches, migraine, and cluster headaches)

- Secondary headaches (e.g. meningitis, subarachnoid haemorrhage, acute glaucoma, stroke, and brain tumours).

Learning Objectives:

1. How to take a concise headache history and know when to ask what question

2. Physical examinations to consider and their relevant signs

3. Investigations for headaches and when to consider them

4. Causes of headaches and how do differentiate between them

5. Practice OSCE scenarios to apply knowledge of headaches and head injuries

Summary

This session focuses on how to deal with patients presenting with headaches, including asking the right questions in history-taking, performing relevant physical examinations, when to order what test, and how to differentiate between causes of headaches.
