Description

Morning session:

  • Neuro Spotlight Olympiad which is an SBA group quiz with an opportunity to test knowledge of Clinical Neuroanatomy, Clinical neuroscience and related topics
  • Maximum group size = 4.

Afternoon session:

  • Talk on 'A Career in Neurology and the training pathway'
  • Talk by Dr Penny Eames (Consultant Neurologist) on how to perform a focussed neurological exam
  • Opportunities to practice a neurological exam in a simulated OSCE style with feedback

Prizes and distinction award certificates to be given!

Come and join the Neuro Spotlight Olympiad, an educational session that sharpens your knowledge in Clinical Neuroanatomy and Neuroscience through a group quiz, enhancing your competitive spirit in a friendly environment. Sign up in groups of up to 4 students maximum but feel free to enter as a pair or trio. Including insightful talks on paths towards a Neurology career and providing hands-on experience on conducting a neurological exam through simulated OSCE style practices, guided by esteemed Consultant Neurologist, Dr. Penny Eames. Appreciate the joy of learning with rewards as prizes await the winning group and certificate of awards for the top distinction achievers. An essential event for budding clinical neuroscience, neurology and neurosurgery enthusiasts aimed to test, validate and expand your knowledge base in this riveting field.

Learning objectives

  1. Participants should be able to demonstrate and apply their knowledge of Clinical Neuroanatomy, Clinical Neuroscience and related topics in the Neuro Spotlight Olympiad quiz.
  2. Participants should have an understanding of the neurology training pathway for a career in Neurology after attending the 'A Career in Neurology and the training pathway' talk.
  3. After the teaching session, participants should be able to describe the key steps and techniques involved in conducting a focused neurological exam, following Dr Penny Eames' talk.
  4. Participants should be able to accurately perform a focussed Neurological exam for OSCEs and clinical practice, applying the theory and practical techniques learned from the lectures.
  5. By the end of the teaching session, participants should be able to critically analyse their performance and exam techniques using the feedback provided post simulated OSCE, aiming to improve future performances.
