Session 2: Managing time as a parent & surgical trainee

Summary

In our second "Family Matters in Surgery" session, the Moynihan Academy will discuss practical ways for medical professionals to balance the demands of a surgical career and their family obligations. Attendees of this engaging session will gain a deeper understanding of what options are available to them to make training more flexible and how to practically apply for and utilise this flexibility. We will have advice from trainees who have gone through the process and insights from the people who grant us LTFT. Special Guest Speakers: Prof Gillian Tierney, ASGBI President and Head of School of Surgery in East Midlands. - Giving tips on applying for LTFT and managing your opportunities. Mr Mike Gale, Consultant Upper GI Surgeon. - Giving perspective from a consultant supporting LTFT and information on LTFT rotas Miss Rhiannon Richards, ST8 Colorectal Trainee. - Sharing personal experiences on LTFT
