Summary
The Manchester Trauma Conference, hosted by Scalpel, is the first-ever student-led general trauma conference in Manchester where medical students and professionals will learn about comprehensive Trauma management within the NHS and globally. In partnership with Friends of David Nott Foundation, Friends of MSF, and Plastics and T&O societies, the conference will provide hands-on workshops and expert speakers. Topics include the role of trauma doctors from pre-hospital triage to the A+E multi-disciplinary team and dealing with patients in resource-restricted environments and warzones. This conference is a unique opportunity to understand trauma management and the career paths in trauma surgery and humanitarian surgery.
Learning objectives

To understand the different roles of trauma surgeons, trauma team leads, humanitarian and military surgeons, and their varying contributions in trauma management.

To gain knowledge of trauma patient management, from pre-hospital triage in a major incident, to receiving and treating the patient in A+E with a multidisciplinary team.

To comprehend the specifics of humanitarian surgery, particularly the strategies used and challenges faced in managing patients in warzones or environments with reduced resources.

To gain hands-on experience in trauma triage, emergency management, and trauma surgical skills through interactive workshops.
