A large proportion of SAS/LED surgeons practice autonomously but their practice is not recognised as such. A Toolkit has been developed to assist SAS/LED surgeons to establish autonomous practice. This will be launched formally by President of RCSEd Prof Rowan Parks and then elaborated further by experts. Evidence of autonomous practice is essential for career progression, Portfolio Pathway & appointment to Specialist Grade post besides of course recognition by the authorities. Discussion will follow on key requirements for appointment to Specialist Grade and offer suggestions to achieve them.
