This webinar is part of our series from the Faculty of Dental Trainers in association with SEADDE.
Over a decade ago, training programmes based on Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) were mostly seen in postgraduate programmes and its use in undergraduate programs has been described more recently. Entrustable professional activities (EPAs) have become an important topic within competency-based healthcare professional education programmes in many countries. The EPAs, act as a bridge between a competency framework and daily clinical practice.
Aims
- To gain insight into the concept of EPAs, with an overview on designing EPAs for undergraduate dental education.
- To demonstrate developmental steps and implementation towards an EPA-based dental programme.
- To describe the rationale of EPAs to qualify safe dental practitioners in daily clinical practice.
- To outline the levels of supervision as a scale for assessment in the workplace, which can be used for workplace-based assessment of dental students.

Panellists
Professor Liang Lin Seow (Speaker)

Prof. Dr. Seow is currently the Dean for the School of Dentistry at the International Medical University, Kuala Lumpur and has previously served as academic staff in University of Malaya for ten years. She is responsible for driving the postgraduate programmes at the International Medical University successfully rolling out the PG Diploma programmes in Implant Dentistry, Prosthodontics and Endodontics. She is the Founding President of Malaysian Association for Prosthodontics and Past President of the Asian Academy of Prosthodontics. She was the Honorary Publication Secretary for Malaysian Dental Association for three consecutive terms (2007-2010) and had held the position of Secretary and Council Member of the International Association for Dental Research (Malaysian Section). She is an appointed member of the Malaysian Dental Council by the Minister of Health, Malaysia. She is also the Council Member for the Malaysian Association for Aesthetic Dentistry. Prof Seow is an appointed examiner for the MFDS examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Dr Sarah Manton (Chair)
Sarah Manton is Director of the Faculty of Dental Trainers and the former Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. She is a Specialist in Restorative, Periodontics and Special Care Dentistry and is currently working in specialist practice.
