Join us for a talk hosted by Edinburgh University Paediatrics Society as play therapist Margaret McEwan shares with us her experience as a play specialist in hospital.
The play team involves trained professionals that use therapeutic play to help children cope with the negative feelings associated with hospital. Examples of their work include needle de-sensitisation sessions, bereavement care and memory making and advocating in child protection sexual abuse appointments.
This talk will aim to provide an introduction to the role of play in hospital and the necessary part this plays in the care of sick children. As a bonus, Margaret will share her tips and tricks on how to help children interact and participate in their care!
