Professor Peter Hutchinson is a distinguished figure in the field of neurosurgery, renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to the understanding and treatment of neurotrauma. Holding a prominent position as Professor of Neurosurgery and NIHR Research Professor at the University of Cambridge, he serves as the Head of the Division of Academic Neurosurgery within the Department of Clinical Neurosciences.
With a comprehensive academic background including a BSc (Hons), MBBS, and a PhD from the University of Cambridge, Professor Hutchinson is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Surg Neurol) and a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences (FMedSci). His prolific research output includes over 400 publications, with contributions to prestigious journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, and Brain. Additionally, he has been the lead applicant in research grants exceeding £10 million, encompassing funding from organizations such as the MRC and NIHR.
Beyond his academic and clinical roles, Professor Hutchinson holds leadership positions in various professional organizations.
