Summary

The emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the subsequent global pandemic has altered the landscape of clinical medicine. A significant proportion of patients recovering from COVID-19 experience lingering symptoms, colloquially termed "Long COVID" or Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC). As our understanding of Long COVID continues to evolve, it is crucial for healthcare professionals to remain updated to ensure optimal patient care.

Learning objectives

Diagnostic Acumen: By the end of this session, participants will be competent in recognizing and categorizing diverse clinical presentations of Long COVID, enabling timely and accurate diagnosis. Therapeutic Strategy Development: Attendees will demonstrate proficiency in formulating individualized management plans, integrating evidence-based therapies and interventions tailored to the unique needs of Long COVID patients. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participants will effectively coordinate with multidisciplinary teams—such as cardiologists, pulmonologists, and physiotherapists—to ensure holistic care for patients experiencing post-COVID sequelae. Patient Education and Communication: After attending the session, attendees will confidently guide and educate Long COVID patients and their families, facilitating informed choices and setting realistic recovery expectations. Outcome Assessment and Follow-up: Participants will exhibit the ability to systematically monitor patients' progress, adjust management strategies based on response, and provide continuity of care for those with lingering symptoms.
